MO SW-PBS Schools establish a Core Team and Action Teams at Tier 3. The Core Team is responsible for developing the Tier 3 system. Action Teams are flexible groupings formed for each student to conduct the Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA),and develop and monitor the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).
MO SW-PBS Schools develop a comprehensive Tier 3 Student Identification Plan. Students can be identified for Tier 3 support in multiple ways, including: nonresponse to Tier 2 intervention, chronic behaviors, intense behaviors, nomination, and universal screening.
MO SW-PBS Schools develop the capacity to accurately assess the function of the problem behavior. An FBA is conducted to gather evidence to develop and support a summary statement describing the function of behavior for designing the positive behavior intervention plan.
Table that provides options from which the team can choose to begin developing strategies to teach replacement behavior, prevent problem behavior, reinforce appropriate behavior and limit reinforcement of inappropriate behavior. Strategies are built on the Effective Classroom Practices and are organized by function.
Progress monitoring provides crucial information about student response to intervention. MO SW-PBS Schools use this information to make decisions about continuing, modifying, or fading an intervention.
Providing high quality professional learning to all staff is critical in ensuring that Tier 3 is implemented with fidelity. MO SW-PBS Schools continually support staff implementation by engaging staff in training and ongoing supports.
The purpose of the TFI is to provide an efficient tool for teams to self-assess implementation fidelity at Tier 1 (universal), Tier 2 (secondary targeted) and Tier 3 (tertiary intensive) intervention levels. MO SW-PBS Schools utilize the TFI annually.
