4. Identifying Students for Individualized Supports

Component Purpose

There are multiple ways that students can be identified for individualized, intensive Tier 3 support.  The means for identifying students are: nonresponse to Tier 2 intervention, chronic behaviors, intense behaviors, nomination, and universal screening.  The resources on this page will help you develop your Tier 3 identification system and are intended to supplement MO SW-PBS regional Tier 3 training.

Component Outcomes

  • Describe the five means to identify students for Tier 3 intervention and:
    -Assess the establishment of your data decision rules for nonresponse to Tier 2 intervention
    -Review your Existing Student Data Inventory for established indicators of high risk for chronic behaviors
    -Identify decision rules for students who exhibit intense behaviors
    -Evaluate the completeness of your teacher nomination form and system
    -Consider utilizing a universal screening instrument
